As measures are tightened for the rest of the Circuit Breaker period, more dealerships are shifting their marketing budget to digital efforts. We speak to Justin Liong, founder of Motorworld on how his business has seen a surge of interest and orders through social media platforms.

How did the idea of starting a motor vehicle business come about?

Justin: Ever since I was a child, I always knew that I would eventually turn my enthusiasm for cars into a career. To me, choosing a career in what I am passionate about is never a mistake as long as I am willing to put in the work. Sure enough, after I completed my National Service, I worked for a new car dealership to learn more about the salesman trade. Though I did find the journey absolutely daunting in the initial stages, determination helped to bridge that gap. Several years later, I decided to set up my own business, Motorworld.

What has been the most satisfying moment in your business?

Justin: The best satisfaction for me is when I hear positive feedback from my customers as it measures how happy they are with me, my products and the business as a whole.

Tell me about a time when you were faced with an unhappy client. How did you manage the situation?

Justin: Last Chinese New Year, I was reprimanded over the phone as my customer’s car broke down in Malaysia. To rectify the situation, I listened, empathized and reassured him that I am there to support him and resolve the matter. So, I helped tow his car back to Singapore, fixed the faulty component and got him a replacement car throughout the festive period. It ended up being a win-win situation for both of us.

What differentiates your business from the competition?

Justin: Customer service is our top priority. I strive to make our customers’ experience as successful as possible. Whether it’s resolving problems quickly or listening with compassion, I believe that great customer service is worth paying for. On top of that, we run an honest and transparent business with no hidden charges. All our cars are selling at the most reasonable price too!

What services or products do you offer?

Justin: We provide vehicle financing/insurance, exporting and scrapping of vehicles, sales of brand new and used vehicles for both commercial and private cars.

Which is one car you would recommend for a daily driver? Why?

Justin: I will definitely recommend my 2015 Toyota Altis! The Altis is traditionally known for three things: reliability, simplicity and a low price tag for just the right value. The 2015 model doesn’t disappoint the commuter population either, buyers get everything they have come to expect from the Corolla and more. It comes with technology like wheel-mounted audio controls, optional keyless entry and rounds out with exceptional safety measures.
