The Best Car Commercials Of All Time

According to digital marketing experts Red Crow, an average person is exposed to between 4,000 to 10,000 advertisements daily. While many of us find it a bother at times having to wait for an unskippable ad to finish while browsing Facebook or YouTube, there are rare times where we stumble upon an ad that captivates us and we, surprisingly, enjoy.

And what could be better than advertisements about cars? So, hold off from clicking that ‘Skip Ad’ button for once, as we bring you some of the best car commercials of all time!

“Lamp Post” – Volkswagen, 1998

More than 20 years old and still, a classic commercial that entertains and informs you about Volkswagen’s hard to miss deal for the VW Polo. The commercial keeps you on your toes as you have no idea what to expect within this short 30-second dialogue.

“Cog” – Honda, 2003

Described as legendary by many in the advertising industry, “Cog” features the 2003 Honda Accord in this :120 spot. Similar to a Rube Goldberg Machine, this advertisement took six to seven years to make, all with the simple task of closing the Accord’s car boot. The effort put into this commercial definitely paid off, as it won over 40 awards at multiple Advertising Awards.

“The Sculptor” – Peugeot, 2003

This 2003 commercial by Peugeot India leaves viewers confused at first, but tells a great story of a man’s love for the Peugeot 206. This commercial has been so well-loved by many that even Top Gear recreated its version of the ad to mark the ad’s 15th anniversary and the Peugeot 206’s 20th anniversary in 2018.

“What Do You Want?” – Audi, 2003

A cleverly done ad by Audi that, surprisingly, does not have a single car in it. The German brand acknowledges qualities that different car brands are known for, but makes the bold claim that you can get all these qualities in one car.

“The Godfather” – Audi, 2008

What better way to capture your attention than to parody iconic scenes from movies? This 2008 Audi R8 Superbowl Commercial features the infamous horse’s head scene from the 1972 film The Godfather, and it has for sure won a spot for being topical amongst movie lovers and car lovers.

“Camry Reinvented” – Toyota, 2012

Who doesn’t want things to be just a little nicer? Toyota shows us a collection of reinvented people, places, and things that we cannot help but wish for. A time-travelling baby? Debatable. A reinvented Camry? Sounds like a good want to have.

“Rendezvous” – Jaguar, 2014

This riveting commercial opens with the question, “Have you ever wondered why in Hollywood movies, all the villains are played by Brits?” Starring the well-loved Tom Hiddleston, Sir Ben Kingsley, Mark Strong, they tell us why, just like the Brits, the Jaguar is a preferred choice, time and time again. Another Superbowl Commercial that captured the hearts of many.
