A massive front intake grille dominates the exterior. That overall design appears to be an attempt at blending an aggressive visual presence with a crossover SUV-type profile. The slim, narrow headlight assemblies give the car a slightly squint-eyed look.

Standard specification includes Cruise Control with brake function, Lane Departure Warning, the Evasion Assistant and front-collision warning. The Parking Assistant includes Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing Assistant.

The new BMW 223i Active Tourer has an output of 160 kW/218 hp (generated jointly by the 150 kW/204 hp combustion engine and 14 kW/19 hp electric drive system).


Fuel consumption, combined: 6.6 – 6.0 l/100 km (42.8 – 47.1 mpg imp), CO2 emissions, combined: 149 – 137 g/km based on the WLTP cycle.

The cabin packs a new-look gear selector lever, volume controls for the audio system and other function buttons. There are ample storage compartments and cup holders. Wireless charging is also supported in the centre console’s lower section.

The new 223i Active Tourer also boasts five seats that claim to be sculpted for long-distance comfort. The newly developed multi-adjustable seats come with the option of Sensatec perforated and Vernasca leather upholstery variants. If you’re looking for more room, the load capacity can be expanded from 415 litres to a maximum of 1,405 litres.

The BMW Curved Display is formed by a 10.25-inch information display and a control display with a screen diagonal of 10.7 inches. Running on BMW Operating System 8, the new BMW iDrive is built around an intuitive touch and voice control.

In addition, new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer customers can also enjoy the Personal eSIM built to work with the latest 5G mobile technology. It also offers further improved smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new BMW 223i Active Tourer will be launched from February 2022 with four models available. Availability for Singapore has not yet been confirmed. Although the current-generation 2 Series Active Tourer is still on sale in Singapore. Therefore, the trend will likely continue with the next-gen car.
